Need your help.My commentary yesterday focused on a grotesque T-shirt created by the lead singer of a local band that I'm now told broke up a few months ago.I'm still not naming the band because...more there are now new members and I don't want to given them any publicity. The shirt glorifies the man who's charged with killing Seattle Police Officer Tim Brenton. It features a picture of Christopher Monfort along with a Seattle police badge sitting in a pool of blood. The heading reads: "Deliver us From Evil."In addition to my commentary, John Carlson and I talked about this on our KOMO Newsradio show for more than two hours, during which we heard from Tim Brenton's mother-in-law.The idea hit us just before talking with her.We want to create a T-shirt that honors Officer Brenton and takes attention away from the one glorifying his accused killer. That's where you come in.Send us your design or idea for that T-shirt.The best four or five will be posted on-line and then everyone can have a say as

It came to our attention that a small time, small minded "hardcore" band was selling a shirt that glorifies the man who has been charged with killing Officer Timothy Brenton. We decided we need to do something more than just talk about it.

Seattle Police Department East Precinct Commander Captain Jim Dermody has written a letter to the precinct community thanking them for the out pour of support following the murder of Officer Tim...more Brenton. "On Halloween night and in the days that followed you have shown your support of the Seattle Police Department...in countless ways. "You have visited the vigil site on 29th Avenue, called and sent letters of sympathy and encouragement to the precinct, delivered food, coffee and flowers, offered space for gatherings, followed the media coverage of the investigation, phoned in numerous tips, watched or attended the Space Needle flag raising, procession and memorial service and breathed a collective sigh of relief after the arrest in Tukwila." Western Washington University student Carey Rose sold his beloved light-blue 1980 Datsun 210 to a man a year and a half ago. He had no idea the car would later reappear at the murder scene of a Seattle police officer.

Earlier this week I noted that my continued opposition to the death penalty leads me to believe that the person responsible for killing a Seattle police officer should not be executed. Others insist that justice demands such a sentence.

Christoper Monfort, accused of the cold-blooded murder of a Seattle police officer and the attempted murder of others, is paralyzed from the waist down as he lies in a hospital bed, his family said Thursday.

I've received enough e-mail asking me this question that I feel compelled to answer it publicly. Would I support the death penalty for the person convicted of killing Seattle police officer Timothy Brenton?

We’ve received this email from attorney Julie A. Lawry detailing a Q and A session with Suzan Monfort, the mother of Christopher Monfort, who has been charged with killing Officer Tim Brenton. We...more have not edited the questions or her responses: How is Christopher doing? Waiting for the doctor to respond to our call. We have heard different conditions but the family has not been given access to this information. When do you expect he'll be released from the hospital? We have no idea. Can you tell us if he's walking? We have been told he is paralyzed. Have you talked to him? If so what has he said? The family has been refused visitation. Can you tell us about his life? Where did he grow up? Until the 6th grade he lived in Indiana, we then moved to AK and he went to high school in Denver. Is he an only child? Yes. What were his interests growing up - sports, school, hobbies? As a little boy it was Scouts, baseball, football, playing outside with friends at any chance. He loved putting

The man suspected of shooting Seattle Police Officer Tim Brenton to death in cold blood will be charged with aggravated first-degree murder, King County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Satterberg said...more Thursday. The suspect, Christopher Monfort of Tukwila, also will be charged with three other counts of attempted first-degree murder and one charge of first-degree arson stemming from an Oct. 22 firebombing, Satterberg said. If convicted of the charges, Monfort would face a minimum sentence of life in prison. Satterberg said prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty against Monfort. Satterburg accused Monfort of planning and executing a "one-man war against the Seattle Police Department." "There is no greater crime in my view than the murder of a police officer," Satterberg added. "We've never seen anything like this," Satterberg said. "This case is unique in that Monfort planned to confront police and kill as many officers as he could." The charges were announced at a
