KOMO News has learned Kimberly Hiatt took her own life earlier this month. At the time, she was still under investigation by the state in connection with the death of a critically-ill baby at the hospital.
The Department of Health says inadequate procedures at Seattle's Children's Hospital "may potentially have contributed to the death" of a baby being prepared for transfer to the facility last summer -- a conclusion which the hospital says it strongly disagrees.
State investigators have launched a third priority investigation into Seattle's Children's Hospital. The hospital had three medication errors in just 10 days connected to two deaths and a cardiac arrest.
