The 10-year-old boy who brought to school a gun that permanently injured his classmate will now get a fresh start. A Kitsap County judge on Thursday dismissed the charges against the boy in the incident that occurred exactly one year ago from Friday.
Amina Bowman had been eating through the tube since Feb. 22 when a handgun inside her classmate's backpack accidentally went off, hitting her. She sustained a serious injury to her small intestine and as a result, could not eat or drink for weeks.
Amina Bowman, who was critically injured in a classroom shooting, has taken a huge step in her long road to recovery. Over the weekend, the 9-year-old girl took her first steps since the Feb. 22 shooting at Armin Jahr Elementary School.
Amina Bowman, who was shot inside her classroom at Armin Jahr Elementary School, turned 9 at Harborview Medical Center. Surrounded by stuffed animals and balloons, she was seen beaming from her hospital bed.
