Algerian terrorist Ahmed Ressam has been sentenced to 37 years in prison for plotting to bomb Los Angeles International Airport around the turn of the new millennium.

Ressam is scheduled to be sentenced for a third time next month. The difference this time? He's expected to get more than 22 years.

Earlier this year, a three-judge panel ruled the man's 22-year sentence was too short, given Ressam's al-Qaida training, criminal history and malicious intent. But Ressam's defense team has appealed that ruling.

Just six hours before midnight and the new millennium, then Mayor Paul Schell ordered everyone out of Seattle Center. Police believed a terrorist was planning to blow up the needle.
